Burnett to Lay Off 50

CHICAGO – Leo Burnett is laying off about 50 employees between now and the end of the month, sources said. The cuts represent approximately 2 percent to 3 percent of the agency’s staff.

The layoffs at the Bcom3 Group unit follow a cut of about 200 employees in February. Agency executives attributed those reductions to a need to stay ahead of an expected economic slowdown.

An agency representative could not immediately be reached for comment about the latest layoffs. Burnett, like most agencies, has been hit by reduced client spending and a lack of new business.
