Bud Light Ad Featuring Gay Men Causes a Stir

Anheuser-Busch has responded to controversy over a Bud Light print ad showing two men holding hands by setting up telephone numbers for people wanting to show support or opposition to the work.
The St. Louis brewer issued a statement that it is surprised “that one print ad placed in select gay-oriented magazines has attracted attention.”
DDB Chicago, which created the ad, has done several gay-targeted print executions in past years. The current work ran in a free St. Louis gay publication called EXP with copy that reads, “Be yourself and make it a Bud Light.”
“Today’s consumer is not one of a specific gender, race, geography or orientation,” A-B’s statement said.
