StarLink will handle the media planning and buying for many of MMB’s clients, as well as assist on new business. StarLink’s work will account for $50 million in annual billings. MMB held a review of undisclosed contenders for the business.

“We talked with several other large media agencies but felt that StarLink would give us, and our clients, the best service,” said Joe McCarthy, MMB’s CEO, in a statement. “Importantly, we felt that the people and culture matched very well with what we have.”

Since its formation two years ago, StarLink has grown quickly; the company now handles $320 million in billings for a host of small and midsized shops. StarLink has also seen the number of agencies conducting reviews for media partners in crease.

“It’s happening more than it did a year ago. They want to see what’s out there,” Kubis said. “They want to check chemistry, as well as ability.”
