As a quarterly magazine covering life in the Lone Star State from an African American perspective, Our Texas may be developing a special place in nontraditional marketing circles.
Publisher Gemeral Berry pointed out that the magazine appears in Heart of the Falcon, a romance novel published this year by Pinnacle Books.
In one scene the novel’s heroine, refusing to engage in a bawdy conversation at a Houston beauty salon, buries herself in–what else?–an issue of Our Texas.
Berry, amused by the magazine’s inclusion in the book, said the plug helps the visibility of the seven-year-old niche publication.
Those whose tastes lean more toward politics than romance will find mention of the magazine in Practicing Texas Politics.
