BMW Picks 4 In $150M N.A. Review

BMW has cut to four finalists in the review of its North American creative account, the client said. Moving forward are independent Anomaly and MDC’s Kirshenbaum Bond + Partners, both in New York, Omnicom’s GSD&M in Austin, Texas, and IPG’s The Martin Agency in Richmond, Va. BMW spent $150 million on ads last year, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

Merkley Loses Lipitor Account

NEW YORK Omnicom’s Merkley + Partners, the incumbent on Pfizer’s Lipitor account, has been eliminated from the review, leaving three New York shops vying for the estimated $60 million to $80 million account, sources said. WPP’s JWT, Publicis’ The Kaplan Thaler Group and independent mcgarrybowen remain. Merkley has been on the account since December 2000. The review is expected to end next month.

Liberty Mutual’s Review Down to 4

BOSTON Liberty Mutual has named four finalists in the review of its estimated $50 million account, sources said. The following are competing: Havas’ Arnold and IPG’s Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos, both here, and New York agencies Euro RSCG, a unit of Havas, and MDC’s Kirshenbaum Bond + Partners. KB+P is the seven-year incumbent and got a free pass into the final round. Out of contention are IPG’s Mullen, Omnicom’s Merkley + Partners and WPP’s JWT. Finalists are scheduled to make pitches on Oct. 21, and a decision is due by the end of October.
