LOS ANGELES BMW is negotiating with Grey Global Group’s Grey as a preliminary step to awarding the creative portion of its $30 million Western regional account, sources said.

The client could not be immediately reached. The agencies either declined comment or could not be reached. The consultant, Select Resources International in West Hollywood, Calif., declined comment.

The review included Grey, Los Angeles; incumbent Mendelsohn/Zien, Los Angeles, partially owned by Hakuhodo; Publicis Groupe’s Publicis & Hal Riney in San Francisco; and independent Heil-Brice Retail Advertising in Newport Beach, Calif.
