SAN FRANCISCO — Blue Shield of California has selected three finalists to contend for its $4-6 million account, sources said Wednesday.

The agencies are the San Francisco offices of FCB Worldwide, Hill, Holliday and Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer/Euro RSCG, according to sources. The account was formerly handled by McCann-Erickson San Francisco, which declined to defend. A decision is expected by March.

Blue Shield representatives could not be immediately reached for comment.
