Blanchard Schaefer Redesigns Music Magazine

DALLAS Blanchard Schaefer Advertising was given an assignment by Country Music Today, the official magazine of Country Music Television, the shop said.

The Arlington, Texas-based agency was chosen to provide design and layout services for the national publication that is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. Design for CMT had previously been outsourced to a high-end graphics boutique in California, the shop said.

According to Ken Schaefer, principal for the agency, he formed the CMT partnership over a chance cup of coffee with one of the magazine’s investors. Results of the alliance rolled out with the September/October issue.

“We were hired to freshen up the magazine,” Schaefer said. “We’ll be handling all pre-production design of the publication—from cover to cover.”

While the shop has provided design services to large catalogs in the past, this is its first work for a national magazine, Schaefer said. He added that the agency is actively pursuing assignments with other national and regional publications.
