BOSTON–Verizon Communications on Wednesday elevated Jody Bilney to senior vp, brand management and marketing communications.

Now responsible for leading the company’s global marketing initiatives, including advertising, Bilney — previously president of consumer markets at Verizon’s Retail Markets Group — replaces Jan Keeler, who is retiring.

The New York-based client spends $300-400 million annually on advertising. In April, Verizon consolidated the lion’s share of its creative account with Lowe Lintas & Partners, New York, and its sister Interpublic Group agency Draft, already a Verizon roster shop.
