BermanBraun Hires Yahoo! Exec as COO

NEW YORK BermanBraun has hired Mike Weetman as chief operating officer. Weetman will also assume the role of CFO and head of business development.

Weetman was most recently at Yahoo!, where he was CFO of the company’s network division after serving one year as CFO of Yahoo! Media Group.

“Mike is a world-class executive with unrivaled experience in traditional and new media. His business acumen, strategic mind and operational expertise will be invaluable to our company as we seek to create unique, original content across all platforms,” said Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun, principals and cofounders, in a joint statement.

The hire is BermanBraun’s second hire from Yahoo! in as many months. In July, the company lured Geraldine Martin-Coppola, director of media group strategy at Yahoo!, to serve as head of interactive operations.

Weetman’s previous experience also includes a four-year tenure as head of finance and business development at DreamWorks Worldwide Home Entertainment. Additionally, he served as svp, finance at 20th Century-Fox and vp, planning and finance at EMI Music North America.

BermanBraun is an newly formed independent production company based in Los Angeles that provides entertainment content across multiple platforms globally. Braun is a former high-ranking Yahoo! executive. Berman is a former president of Paramount Pictures.
