DALLAS The Dallas Producers Association has awarded Joe Camp, producer of the Benji movies, the first Dallas Film Pioneer award, the organization said.
Camp, a former Dallas resident, accepted his award just as Benji Off the Leash debuts in theaters nationwide tomorrow. This fourth installment in the series marks the 30th anniversary of the first Benji movie, which was independently produced in Dallas, the association said.
“I am humbled by the award,” Camp said. “I hope that it will challenge other Dallas producers to spend their time and efforts to persevere toward their own goal.”
