Bcom3 Folds N.W. Ayer Into The Kaplan Thaler Group

CHICAGO–N.W. Ayer, one of the nation’s oldest agencies but in recent years but a shadow of its once formidable self, is being folded into The Kaplan Thaler Group by parent Bcom3, the Chicago-based holding company said today.
Ayer’s clients, which will be assumed by Kaplan Thaler in New York, include Continental Airlines, KitchenAid, Charming Shoppes and Villeroy & Boch.
Bcom3 last month agreed to be acquired by the Publicis Groupe in a deal estimated at $3 billion.
Bcom3 CEO Roger Haupt said in a statement that folding Ayer into Kaplan Thaler will create “a very charged environment for our clients and people.”
Ayer’s archives, which go back 133 years, will be donated to the national Museum of American History in Washington D.C.
