Bartle Bogle Hegarty has installed Richard Stainer as the new managing director at it’s New York office, the agency announced Monday, moving quickly to fill a key post left vacant when its previous occupant jumped ship for a startup agency.
Stainer’s responsibilities will include oversight of BBH’s global relationship with Google, the New York outpost’s largest client by revenue. A veteran of BBH’s London headquarters, Stainer helped win Google business for the agency. His other client experience at BBH includes VodaFone. Previously at DDB, he worked with such brands as Volkswagen and Budweiser.
In New York, Stainer will report to CEO Greg Andersen.
The managing director post was held previously by longtime account hand Barney Robinson. Last week, news broke that Robinson would be joining Barton F. Graf 9000, the shop founded last year by creative star Gerry Graf, as president. Robinson’s latest move came seven months after BBH announced his appointment to managing director, though he spent some 12 years at the agency.
