BBH Adds Smirnoff Ice Overseas Duties

NEW YORK Bartle Bogle Hegarty has added overseas creative duties on Diageo’s Smirnoff Ice, after winning U.S. duties on the brand last month, the client said today.

Estimated billings on the international business are $15 million. The account will be run out of BBH’s London office and the shop’s first campaign is expected in the spring.

The U.S. account, with estimated billings of $35 million, was awarded to Publicis Groupe-backed BBH after a pitch against the incumbent, WPP Group’s J. Walter Thompson [Adweek Online, Nov. 15].

For the international business, BBH competed against JWT and Omnicom Group’s AMV BBDO in London, said sources.

“We chose BBH because of their consistently outstanding creative work for Diageo on Baileys and Johnnie Walker and for the very strong new global campaign idea they have delivered for Smirnoff Ice,” said James Thompson, president of global marketing for Smirnoff, in a statement.

JWT continues to handle global creative duties on Diageo’s Smirnoff vodka.
