LOS ANGELES – West Coast shops dominated the 25th Annual EFFIE Awards, held in New York last week. The awards, sponsored by the New York Chapter of the American Marketing Association and presented to both client and agency, honor the results achieved by an ad campaign. BBDO Los Angeles’ campaign for the Apple PowerBook received top honors, including the Grand EFFIE and the Gold EFFIE in the computer category. D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles/L.A. won three golds, for NBC and its campaign for the 1992 Olympics, for the Australian Tourist Commission and for Kal Kan’s Whiskas. Other West Coast Gold winners: Walt Disney Studios/Burbank, Calif.’s in-house ad group for Beauty and the Beast; Dailey & Associates/L.A. for Lawry’s Seasoned Salt; Muse Cordero Chen/L.A. for Kraft General Foods’ KoolAid; Hal Riney & Partners/S.F. for Saturn; Goodby, Berlin & Silverstein/S.F. for Isuzu; and McCann-Erickson/Seattle for Washington Mutual Savings Bank.
