BBDO Captures $60 Mil. Account Of Office Depot

Office Depot has selected BBDO to handle its estimated $60 million account.

Incumbent Gold Coast Advertising in Miami, which held the account on and off since 1986, did not participate in the review. The competition, conducted by New York consultancy Jones Lundin Beals, saw BBDO of New York top DDB in Chicago and Grey’s New York office.

“We took a structured approach in selecting our new agency,” said Michael Haaf, executive vice president of marketing for the Delray Beach, Fla., retailer. “One of the decisive factors was our shared vision with BBDO and a common thought process that marketing at its core is an analytical function.”

Office Depot had sales of more than $11 billion in 2000.
