Bausch & Lomb Kicks Off Review

Bausch & Lomb is consolidating media and creative duties for all of its business in North and South America, and is looking for an agency with global capabilities, sources said. Billings are estimated at $30 million.

Some 15 agencies have been contacted, including New York-based shops such as Young & Rubicam, TBWA\Chiat\Day, J. Walter Thompson, Deutsch, Merkley Newman Harty & Partners, Lowe and Saatchi & Saatchi, sources said.

Agencies received RFPs last Friday, according to sources. The Rochester, N.Y., client has tapped Joanne Davis Consulting to handle the search. Calls to the New York consultancy were not immediately returned. The client could not be reached.

The eye-care and contact-lens products manufacturer relies on multiple agencies in the Americas and Europe. The latter region is not part of the review.

Questionnaires are due back by July 18, and the client will cut to about six semifinalists for credentials/capabilities meetings in early August. A cut to three finalists is expected by the end of August, sources said. The final pitch will not include spec creative.
