Barkley Makes Senior Management Moves

CHICAGO Barkley has solidified its management team, adding a new business director for the agency and a group media director on its largest account, Sonic Drive-Ins.

For new business, Jules Boasberg joins the Kansas City, Mo., independent agency as senior vice president of business development. He was previously svp of marketing and new business development at GolinHarris, working across the company’s 13-office North American network. Boasberg also worked at independent Doner, managing brands such as PetSmart and Vlasic Foods.

He will work with executive vice president Mike Swenson, who last year took over management of the agency’s overall marketing. Both Swenson and Boasberg will report jointly to agency CEO and chief creative officer Brian Brooker.

“Jules brings with him an extensive understanding of our industry,” Brooker said in a statement. “He is the ideal person to grow our network of connections in this relationship-driven business.”

Separately, Barkley hired Jan-Eric Anderson as a group media director on the agency’s Sonic-Drive in account. Formerly a media director at Publicis Groupe’s Starcom in Chicago, Anderson will report to Jim Elms, the agency’s director of media services, and Sonic account director Steve McGehee. At Starcom, Anderson worked on accounts such as Allstate, Miller Brewing and the U.S. Army.

“I am drawn to Barkley’s unified, un-siloed approach to communications,” Anderson said. “When you combine Barkley’s creative culture with an integrated model of media, account planning, creative and other specialties, the results are dynamic.”
