Banknorth Moves to Maine’s Via

BOSTON–Banknorth, one of the nation’s largest commercial lenders and a regional banking powerhouse, has moved its advertising account to Via.

The agency in Portland, Maine, had worked on some projects with Banknorth and defeated undisclosed local contenders in a review for the overall account.

The incumbent was Bozell Kamstra, Danvers, Mass., which is being absorbed into the operations of Mullen, Wenham, Mass., as part of the consolidation efforts of Interpublic Group of Cos., the shops’ corporate parent.

Banknorth, also in Portland, claims more than $20 billion in total assets and will likely spend more than $10 million through Via, said agency CEO John Coleman.
