RIO DE JANEIRO – Anheuser-Busch is expected to sign here an operations agreement with Brahma for the local manufacture of Budweiser beer in Brazil. Budweiser reached the No. 1 position among imported beers through a distribution agreement with Arisco, a local food business. As the agreement ended last December, and was not renewed, Anheuser-Busch seems to have higher ambitions for its brand’s future in this $25-billion-a-year market for beer. Brahma leads in sales with 34% of the total market.
