Ingalls Advertising had a hand in promoting last week’s charity auction at the Four Seasons Hotel Ballroom in Boston.
The event featured a black velvet gown worn in 1985 by the late Diana, Princess of Wales. The garment was sold to an unidentified Florida bidder-believed to be Di memorabilia collector Maureen Rorech-for $200,000.
The item was donated by Barbara Jordan, owner of Bjoux, a boutique on Newbury Street in Boston. Jordan had purchased the gown for $36,000 earlier this year.
The money comes as a windfall for Community Servings, a Boston-based organization that provides hot meals to homebound AIDS and HIV sufferers.
Ingalls One to One Marketing created ads to promote the auction.
