Art Center College of Design, well-known for producing many ad agency art directors, has expanded its curriculum to include a copywriting program.
The 68-year-old, Pasadena, Calif., institution will offer the three-term study program beginning this term. The program was instituted at the college in order to foster traditional art director/copywriter relationships among advertising students.
“By introducing writers into Art Center’s advertising program, art directors will learn to think more verbally, and writers will learn to think more visually,” explained Art Center Advertising Department chairman Mikio Osaki.
Among the program’s instructors are Los Angeles-area creative executives Mark Fenske and Felipe Bascope.
