Arnold, Houlihan’s Are Full of Fun

CHICAGO Casual dining chain Houlihan’s looks to entice office workers out for lunch and day-ending drinks with a new print and outdoor effort from Arnold.

The work from the Havas agency’s St. Louis office depicts mundane office scenarios interrupted by spray-painted text. One execution shows a woman eating lunch alone in a conference room, while another presents a man working in his cubicle. The text headlines include phrases such as “Anarchy begins at lunch” and “It’s 5 o’clock. Do you know where your mojito is?” The tagline: “Live full.”

“It implores people to have more fun,” said Mark Ray, managing partner and executive creative director for the shop. “Houlihan’s is a place to escape the doldrums and pull yourself out of a rut.”

The effort also includes a Web site,, in which users can fill out a doctor’s note excusing them from work, invite friends for cocktails and play hangman.

The campaign breaks this month in St. Louis, with ads appearing in the city’s alternative weekly, The Riverfront Times. The work will break in other markets throughout the year. Spending was not disclosed.
