Arby’s to Meet With 4 Shops in Creative Finale

ATLANTA Four finalists will meet with Arby’s executives late next month in the review for the restaurant chain’s estimated $15 million national creative account, according to Wanamaker Associates, the consultancy overseeing the search.

The finalists are: Interpublic Group’s Mullen in Wenham, Mass.; Omnicom Group’s Merkley + Partners in New York; MDC’s Kirshenbaum Bond + Partners in New York; and independent Venables, Bell & Partners in San Francisco, a Wanamaker representative said.

Publicis-backed Bartle Bogle Hegarty in New York; Omnicom’s Martin/Williams in Minneapolis; Havas’ Euro RSCG in New York; and independent Modernista! in Boston had been semifinalists.

The incumbent on national creative, independent Doner in Southfield, Mich., is keeping the business for 30 Arby’s co-ops nationwide.

IPG’s Initiative in Atlanta handles media chores, which are not in play.

The four finalists will be briefed next week and make final presentations to the Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.-based client on Sept 21-22 in Atlanta.
