AOL Teams With Univision to Reach Hispanic Web Users

NEW YORK American Online has renewed and expanded a strategic content and marketing alliance with Spanish-language media company Univision Communications.

As a part of the agreement, the AOL Time Warner Internet unit will secure a significant on-air and online presence on Univision-owned media.

Also, AOL Latino will incorporate material, such as articles and photos, as well as broadband content, including news, celebrity clips and entertainment features, from Univision. In turn, Dulles, Va.-based AOL will provide its 35 million members access to Univision through AOL Keyword: Univision.

The alliance is meant to strengthen both companies’ efforts to increase U.S. Hispanic Internet penetration and better reach current Hispanic Internet users.

In addition, AOL and Univision this May will launch a Spanish-language TV ad campaign, due to run across the Univision Network, Galavision and TeleFutura. Casanova Pendrill, the Irvine, Calif., Interpublic Group shop that won AOL’s Hispanic ad account in January, will develop the effort. No further details were available on the campaign.
