Another Coffee Break Stalls Review

NEW YORK A decision in Cafe de Colombia’s $9 million account review has been delayed for a second time this month, as the client told shops this week that it will not select an agency for up to two more weeks, sources said.

The National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia originally slated the decision for May 9, just two weeks after it notified shops that had made the first cut. The decision was then delayed until today, the client had said.

The postponement could push the selection even beyond the date the client and the winning agency were slated to begin work, June 2. Credentials meetings with as many as eight agencies were held at the beginning of the month, and no further sessions have been scheduled, sources said.

The client is looking for an agency with national beverage experience and a track record of marketing to 18-35 year olds, the request stated.

The client did not return phone calls seeking comment.
