BOSTON Interpublic Group’s Mullen in Wenham, Mass., has been awarded a three-year contract to serve as the first lead agency for the American Diabetes Association, the shop said today.
The shop will handle the assignment from both its office here and outpost in Pittsburgh. Mullen’s efforts will support both the ADA’s local field offices through national programming.
Ad spending by the association was about $4 million in each of the last two years, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
Larry Hausner, client CEO, said Mullen’s healthcare experience and “passion for our cause” led to the assignment. Other review contenders were not disclosed.
Brian Bronaugh, president of Mullen in Pittsburgh, noted that the agency takes the assignment personally, as “dozens” of staffers employed by the shop or their family members or friends are afflicted by diabetes.
Mullen will craft online and offline efforts, as well as public relations and public affairs initiatives.
