When Alex Lubar was recruited to join McCann Erickson as North American CMO in June 2012, observers wondered what he was taking on. Lubar had been part of the winning new business team at Grey, New York, where he was svp of new business at the same time McCann was on a three-year dry spell, losing out to agencies like Grey in reviews like Radio Shack.

Since then, a lot has changed for McCann and Lubar, who has just been promoted to global CMO of McCann Worldgroup, a new position.
