Brand Buzz won a gold award at the Outdoor Advertising Association of America’s awards ceremony, which was held recently in New York. The creative-solutions shop was recognized for the “Sony VAIO R505 Station Domination” campaign it created with Young & Rubicam’s Irvine, Calif., office. Mediaedge:cia, Y&R’s media unit, handled media for the campaign. The effort appeared in train stations in three markets: Grand Central Terminal in New York; Montgomery Street Station in San Francisco; and Union Station in Washington. It also included a street effort. Brand Buzz is a div ision of Y&R Group, which is owned by WPP Group. The agency has offices in New York, Los Angeles and Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Robert A Becker Euro RSCG formed Phact Healthcare Communications, a new specialty medical-education division that will focus on immunology, virology and infectious diseases, with an emphasis on HIV and AIDS. The new division will be based at Becker’s New York headquarters. It will be run by co-managing directors Jason Levine and Martin Majchrowicz, formerly co-presidents of MediSolutions, a New York-based medical-education company. Becker, a healthcare-marketing and strategic-communications company, is part of Euro RSCG Healthcare, a unit of Havas’ Euro RSCG Worldwide.
Fluid scored and designed the sound for two 30-second spots for SBC Communications in San Antonio and Goodby, Sil verstein & Partners in San Francisco. The commercials, “Sneak Attack” and “Driving,” tout the speed of SBC Pacific Bell’s DSL Internet connection. They broke last month in the markets served by Pacific Bell, Nevada Bell, Southwestern Bell, SNET and Ameritech. Hungry Man, which is based in Santa Mon ica, Calif., filmed the spots. Fluid is a New York-based music, sound-design, editorial and visual-effects studio.
HSR Studios in New York created the audio mix for a TV commercial that promotes Arista Records’ The Best of Ultimate Dance CD. The CD is the latest release in the label’s Ultimate series of compilation CDs. The 60-second spot was produced by New York-based The Nickel Rocket, with footage supplied by Arista. The commercial began rolling out nationally last month. HSR is an audio facility that serves feature-film, advertising, TV, radio, Internet, corporate and industrial clients.
New York-based M. Young Communications added several new clients. The public relations agency was named U.S. press-information bureau for the region of Campania, Italy; it currently is running a “Summer in Campania” promotion for the client at selected restaurants and retailers in New York. For Spirit Cruises and NYC & Co., M. Young Communications created an awards show, the Anchors of the Hospitality Industry Awards, which honored the meetings, hospitality, events and exhibits industries’ support of local businesses after Sept. 11. The shop held an organic-food cook-off last month to launch Naked Organics Juices; the event marked the formation of the Naked Earth Trust of Waterkeepers Alliance, an environmental fund. The agency organized a five-city wine-tasting tour, The Great Match Wine & Tapas, for Wines from Spain, which renewed its contract with the shop. M. Young Communications also added New York City’s Bastille Day Celebration and Brasserie Les Halles Waiters Race, which was scheduled to take place yesterday, to its client roster.
Smith Design Associates, a branding and design agency with offices in Glen Ridge and San Jose, Calif., created the brand graphic design for Skippy Squeeze Stix, a new product from Unilever Bestfoods. The product is peanut butter that is packaged in individual tubes, and it comes in two flavors: Creamy Peanut Butter and Creamy Pea nut Butter Chocolate. Smith Design also created the brand’s character, who is shown on the front of each package, surfing a wave of peanut butter.
Brand-growth consultancy S3 was tapped by Jaguar Credit to revamp its communications program. This initiative included creating the Lease Edge Card, which allows Jaguar Credit lessees to measure the extent of damages to their vehicles and determine whether they’ll be required to pay for repairs; a welcome packet, “The Journey Begins,” for distribution to lessees when they lease a Jaguar; and a 16-page brochure that is being mailed to Jaguar Credit customers 120 days before their leases are scheduled to end, and explains purchasing and lease-continuation options. S3 has offices in Boonton and Irvine, Calif.
The Gray Matter Group was hired to promote the Barracuda Brigade, a company formed by The Barracudas, stars of the MetroTV documentary series, To Live and Date in New York. The Maywood-based advertising and public relations agency is charged with securing product endorsements, licensing agreements, guest appearances, merchandising opportunities and exercise-video productions on behalf of The Barracudas.
