Donald L Arends, Oak Brook, has been selected to handle SleepQuest’s integrated marketing communications program. SleepQuest is a Redwood City, Calif., company that provides diagnostic and information to treat sleep-related breathing disorders.

Merlin’s Muffler & Brake Corp. in Chicago tapped DiMeo & Co. to promote Merlin’s Care Days, a program that donates 5 percent of all Merlin’s sales to the Children’s Home and Aid Society of Illinois. In addition, the Chicago agency added Motorsports Decision Group, Charlotte, N.C., to its roster.
Walz Tetrick, Mission, has been named lead agency for Earl May Garden Centers in Shenandoah, Iowa. The garden center hired the shop to help it develop a presence in the Kansas City market.

Brogan & Partners Convergence Marketing, Detroit, was named one of the 10 best places to work in southeastern Michigan, in a survey by IRI Consulting and Crain’s Detroit Business. More than 1,500 companies participated in the survey. The judging was based on compensation, performance, growth, leadership, work schedules, communication practices and benefits.
Yamamoto Moss, Minneapolis, has been awarded new-business projects for a series of new and existing clients: Keewaydin Real Estate Advisors, USAllianz, Department 56 and Target Stores, all in Minneapolis, and Strategic Horizons in Cleveland. Martin Luther Home Society retained Colle+McVoy for brand development. The Minneapolis agency conducted a communications audit, along with market re search of both internal and external audiences. The society operates 25 programs in 10 states, providing vocational training, housing, senior care, day care and other services to people with developmental and other disabilities. The 75-year-old organization tapped the agency to devise a consistent brand image while still retaining flexibility in local and regional operations. Separately, Colle+McVoy launched a redesigned Web site, www.collemcvoy.com, written in Flash 5 coding.

RSM McGladrey, Minneapolis, selected Kerker, Minneapolis, as its lead agency following a review. RSM McGladrey is a national accounting, tax and consulting firm. Separately, Worldwide Partners awarded its best-use-of-magazines award to Kerker for the shop’s media program for American Medical Systems. The program included wrapping Time magazines sent to physicians with AMS ads.
Globe Union America tapped Gabriel deGrood Bendt (formerly Gabriel Diericks Razidlo) in Minneapolis to handle the launch of the Danze line of faucets. The agency will be responsible for package design, collateral and other assignments.
The Vandiver Group, St. Louis, was awarded a creative excellence prize by the National Federation of Press Women. The agency won a national honorable mention for its design of a press kit for Saint Louis Effort for AIDS.
Swanson Russell Associates, Lincoln, received two bronze Telly Awards for its work for Mercy Hospital, a 250-bed community hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. The awards were given for two spots, which were part of a larger campaign called “Exceptional medicine. Extraordinary care.” The 30-second TV spots showcase the hospital’s cardiovascular and community services. Separately, Swanson Russell won nine prizes at the Pinnacle Awards in Omaha, Neb. Honored campaigns included work for Mercy Hospital, Nebraska Book Co., Schering-Plough Animal Health, Sergeant’s Pet Care Products and TheCampusHub.com.
Malone Advertising and its Web development subsidiary, Zeris Interactive, marked the first anniversary of business together with the release of their new Web site, www.malonead.com. The site for the Akron agency showcases the capabilities and strategy of the combined companies using the latest media technology.
Gerbig, Snell/Weisheimer, Columbus, was selected by The Rx Club to design promotional materials for its annual awards show slated for November 13 in New York. The Rx Club is an independent awards show for creative in healthcare advertising.
The Urda Co., Akron, was named lead public-relations company for Bar’s Products, a Holly, Mich., manufacturer of under-the-hood chemical and car-cleaning items. Urda, a full-service agency, will handle media relations, event planning and new-product introductions.
Alltel Publishing named Wyse Advertising, Cleveland, as its lead agency. Alltel is a publisher of independent telephone directories. Wyse will develop broadcast and print ads, as well as media buying and planning.
DuFour Advertising, Sheboygan, launched a market-research project for Dutchland Plastics, a manufacturer of molded plastics. DuFour developed surveys designed to help Dutchland better position itself to targeted customers.
