Rotter•kantor was hired to launch a new collection of high-fashion footwear called X18. The brand is designed in Reykjavík, Iceland. The shop, which was awarded integrated-marketing duties, will launch the brand in North America at the WSA shoe trade show, to be held in Las Vegas in August. The brand will be distributed nationally; rotter•kantor, a communications company with an office in New York, will create targeted national consumer and trade advertising to support the brand.
Spencer Trask Ventures, a New York-based venture-capital firm, tapped the Carbone Smolan Agency as its brand-design shop. The New York-based agency will handle the client’s overall brand development, including corporate identity, sales tools, online presence and environmental graphics. It will also aim to broaden, via a integrated-marketing approach, Spencer Trask’s brand recognition, and promote the com pany as an investment partner for entrepreneurs and corporations, among others.
JSM and Onda Productions co-founders Rene Arsenault and Michaelangelo L’Acqua teamed up to provide music tracks for high-end fashion and beauty advertising accounts. Onda Productions, which creates remixes for runway shows and designers, moved into JSM’s New York office. Arsenault is a disc jockey, producer and former Columbia Records A&R representative; L’Acqua is a songwriter, producer and guitarist. JSM, which is based in New York, creates the music for nearly 1,000 commercials annually.
The SPI Group opened its second office in Broadview Heights, Ohio. The public relations and marketing-services agency is based in Upper Montclair. Its new office will be run by general manager Mickey Mencin, previously svp and director of business- to-consumer e-commerce strategy for KeyCorp subsidiary Key Electronic Services in Cleveland; Steve Fonash, formerly e-business marketing manager for GE Lighting in Cleveland, will be managing director. The SPI Group creates and imple ments Web site promotions and Internet alliances and strategies. It also performs industry and competitive analysis, and Web site content-development and project-management functions.
Gattefossé tapped Boonton-based agency S3 to publicize the company’s Treatment Cosmetics product line to cosmetics companies in the U.S. The client creates, develops and supplies ingredients to the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries. The agency created a brochure for Gattefossé, which was distributed at recent trade shows; the piece will also be used for direct mail and sales-support purposes.
Harmelin Media was named the 69th largest woman-owned business in the country by Working Woman. The Working Woman 500 list appeared in the magazine’s June issue. Harmelin Media is a Bala Cynwyd-based media planning and purchasing firm. It claims billings of more than $200 million and employs 100 people.
Schubert Communications, a B2B ad vertising and public relations shop in Downingtown, was named TMA Resources’ agency. The McLean, Va., client is a provider of software for trade associations, professional societies and other member-based organizations. Schubert is working on a strategic B2B integrated marketing-communications program for TMA Resources that includes a qualitative market-research study, a corporate-identity program with a brand-awareness advertising campaign, PR, trade-show and special-event support, Web site development and collateral materials. The goal is to position TMA Resources as the leader in member-centric software, solidify its brand and increase sales revenue.
