Attik, a brand-communications company in New York, directed and designed the live action, graphics and endtag for a pair of 30-second spots, “Periwinkle” and “In Your Face,” for Earle Palmer Brown and Comcast Corp., both in Philadelphia. “Periwinkle” began airing in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland and the Midwest in mid-April. “In Your Face” is scheduled to begin airing in mid-May. These are the first two spots in an evolving campaign. The client is a communi cations company focused on broadband cable, commerce and content.

Precision Valve & Automation tapped Media Logic to create an integrated marketing campaign designed to raise brand awareness, increase product demand and gain exposure with the company’s target audiences. The Halfmoon-based client designs and manu fac tures automated fluid-dispensing systems, valves, accessory equip ment and software. The Albany-based agency will conduct competitive and industry research, supply brand and positioning strategy, and provide advertising and PR counsel.

Professional Indemnity Agency, a Mount Kisco-based insurance-underwriting specialist and risk adviser for food- and beverage-product contamination, hired Rowland Communications in New York for B2B marketing. The shop will help broaden PIA’s leadership in two categories, Accidental Product Contamination and Malicious Product Tampering. Rowland will handle positioning, branding, naming, targeting, product development, training and integrated marketing.

Friedman, Ellis, Nielsen & Rogan won nine awards in several categories at the annual Best of Long Island competition sponsored by the Long Island Advertising Club. Winners were announced at a dinner held on May 15. A magazine ad for the Hauppauge-based advertising agency’s client Gristina Galluccio Estate Vineyards won a “Best of Show” award. The shop also won two silver awards in the “Consumer Magazines–Nonretail” and “Posters” categories, and three bronze awards in the former one, as well as the “Business-to-Business Campaign” and “Logo Design” categories.

Designworks Advertising in Syracuse was tapped by Ireland-based Richard Keenan & Co. to handle its international relaunch. The agency will initially create new marketing and sales tools such as brochures, ads, videos and direct marketing pieces. These materials will be used in 10-15 countries worldwide, including the U.S. The client manufactures feed mixers for dairy-cow and beef-cattle farms. Its U.S. operation, Keenan USA, is based in Fayetteville and sells to farmers throughout the Northeast.

Crowley Webb and Associates, a marketing-communications agency with offices in Buffalo and New York, was elected to the American Association of Advertising Agencies.

Cohn & Wolfe, an international public relations agency, formed an international energy group to address the emerging issues and communication challenges its clients face due to turmoil in the international and domestic energy markets. The Energy Group, which consists of senior Cohn & Wolfe counselors from around the world, will develop strategies and tactics to assist clients with communications issues stemming from energy shortages and prices, such as service interruptions, price increases and conservation. Cohn & Wolfe, a unit of WPP Group, has offices in New York and various other cities in the U.S. and worldwide.


The Star Group was named advertising agency for Virtua Health. The Cherry Hill-based shop will provide marketing, advertising and communications support to Virtua’s entire healthcare base in South Jersey, which includes four area hospitals, several ambulatory, rehabilitation and long-term care centers, and a fitness center. The Star Group will also promote the Virtua duPont Children’s Health Program.

Roche Laboratories tapped Harrison Wilson & Associates as agency for Accutane and Soriatane. The Omnicom Group unit will spearhead the creation and implementation of advertising campaigns, medical education and managed-care programs for these brands in the pharmaceutical company’s dermatology franchise. Accutane treats severe recalcitrant nodular acne; Soriatane treats severe psoriasis. The agency will support the brands with targeted campaigns for medical professionals and consumers. HW&A is a healthcare marketing and communications company with offices in Parsippany and San Francisco.

Richartz Fliss Clark & Pope won three Business Marketing Association Impact Awards at a presentation ceremony held on April 24. The awards were given for campaigns the agency created for National Starch: “Novation Ensures Your Customers Taste It There”; “Fruit Punch”; and “Glue Game.”

Two art directors from graphic-design studio Falco Design in East Brunswick won three Certificates of Excellence and a Medal of Excellence from the Art Directors Club of New Jersey at the organization’s 38th Annual Exhibition and Awards Dinner on April 20. Michael Dewhirst won certificates for the Software Testing Folder and Brochure he helped create for Software Testing Services and the LifeLine Campaign Posters for Honeywell. He also won the medal for the Annual Meeting Invitation created for Geocapital Partners. Jo Anne Mastropasqua received a certificate for her work on the “Falco Holiday Gift 2000” entry, a self-promotional item.


MessageLink, a Berwyn-based reseller of wireless telecommunications products and services, hired The Weightman Group. The Philadelphia-based agency will work with the client on a range of marketing- communications activities, including a new corporate-image and advertising campaign and corporate communications. Message Link and Weightman will emphasize in their communications efforts the client’s focus on customer service and small businesses.

Schubert Communications, a business-to-business advertising and public relations agency, was hired by Prism eSolutions, a tech nology provider of ISO consulting services and products for the manufacturing, financial, healthcare and business-service sectors. Downingtown-based Schubert will part ner with the Blue Bell-based client to create and implement an aggressive marketing-communications pro gram that includes advertising, public relations, trade-show support, Web site design and other interactive services. These activities are meant to position Prism e-Solutions as the leading international pro vider of strategic process-improvement solutions, which integrate traditional consulting services and Internet-enabled solutions for quality management.
