Nourzads, Elgin, has added The Covalent Group to its roster. Covalent, a contract clinical research organization headquartered in Wayne, Pa., retained the agency to handle a range of advertising and public relations duties.
Polo, a Dallas-based magazine, has contracted Cooksey/McGill Communications, also in Dallas, as its public relations agency of record.
Stan & Lou Advertising, Houston, has launched a new outdoor campaign for Scripps Clinic, San Diego. One of the boards features two 16-foot three-dimensional hearts (constructed of styrofoam) and the headline, “Helping you bypass bypass surgery.”
Freed Advertising, Houston, recently completed a promotional campaign for The Mattress Firm, a Houston-based retail bedding chain with more than 70 stores in 11 states. The campaign includes television, newspaper and direct mail.
DSS Research, a market research company based in Arlington, has established a new division–DSS Technologies Group–to provide Internet-related services, including site design and hosting.
Selah Associates, Dallas, has created two 30-second television spots for Dallasbased Cantoni Furniture. Agency creative director Dave Scott said the commercials are airing in Dallas and Houston and may be used to promote future locations.
The Texas Department of Economic Development’s tourism division won two best of class awards for print and television ads created by GSD&M, Austin, at the American Economic Development Council’s annual competition.
Pennebaker.LMC, a Houston-based marketing communications company, has formed CMark/Pennebaker, a joint venture with Communications Mark, a Mexico-based advertising and communications firm. Terms were not disclosed.
Fort Worth advertising and public relations agency Stuart Bacon was named small business employer of the year by the Rotary Club of Fort Worth.
RE: Graphics, a family-owned Dallas offset printing company, has been acquired by Harper House, also in Dallas.
Fort Worth advertising and marketing firm Access has purchased the property at 910 Currie St., where the agency has been housed since 1996. “I’m committed to what we do and I intend to be here for awhile,” said agency owner and president Sandra Johnson. The building’s previous tenants include Delta Recording and Buffalo Sound Productions.
