Hartford’s O’Neal & Prelle was recognized recently with two awards of excellence in advertising by the Connecticut International Association of Business Communicators and three “Bell Ringer” public relations awards by The Publicity Club of New England. From the CTIABC, O&P received a Bronze Quill in the category of innovative communication for a billboard supporting efforts to bring the New England Patriots to Hartford headlined: “Boston Fumbles. Hartford Recovers. Welcome Patriots.” The agency also won a merit award for a capabilities brochure and was honored for developing and coordinating the state’s fourth-grade essay contest.
McCabe & Duval of Portland has been named agency of record by Flagship Communications. McCabe and Duval will create identity materials, a Web site and a marketing campaign to introduce the Portland telemarketing company on a national basis.
Cohen-Friedberg Associates of Framingham has been awarded the administration of the Ryder Truck Rental Services “Win Free Rent for a Year” scratch and win game. This summer, at more than 5,000 Ryder locations and apartment complexes, potential truck renters will be given free game cards. Cohen-Friedberg is working with On Target Media of Cincinnati to produce the promotional event.
Trinity Communications of Boston recently launched a new Web site for New York-based Leading Hotels of the World. Located at www.lhw.com, the site provides upscale travelers with the ability to make reservations and read guest reviews of more than 320 exclusive hotels around the world. The site complements LHW’s global branding strategy and positioning, “When the conversation turns to travel, people turn to Leading Hotels,” which Trinity developed earlier this year.
Epsilon, a Burlington-based direct marketing management company, recently won several major accounts: BellSouth Advertising and Publishing Corp., Nortel Networks, Takeda Pharmaceuticals America and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
Donovan Group of Northborough has been named agency of record by Novera Software, of Burlington, and the LASIK Institute of Boston chose Donovan for a public relations program to launch the Web-based organization as a source of unbiased education for refractive eye surgery. The assignments are the latest in a string of technology work, including HotJobs.com and Furniture.com, that the agency has secured.
The Society for Marketing Professional Services Boston chapter recently awarded Boston companies, Fuessler Group and Sametz Blackstone Associates third place in marketing communications for their collaborative development of Harriman Associates’ company brochure. Harriman, an architecture and engineering firm with offices in Auburn, Maine, and Rocky Hill, Conn., wanted a brochure that would identify the firm as a leader in five target markets. Fuessler Group conducted market research, wrote the copy and collaborated on the conceptual design with Sametz Blackstone, which designed and produced the brochure.
Rainier, high-tech advertising and PR agency, Princeton, will create and execute a 12-month, multimillion dollar business-to-business ad campaign for Vitts Networks of Manchester, N.H., helping the high-speed data network provider expand its service base into greater New England. The campaign will include print, broadcast, outdoor advertising and interactive media.
Bergman Graphics, a Colchester, Vt.-based prepress house, has opened a shop in Nashua. The new branch is a full-service color house with a 4,000-square-foot digital and traditional photography studio largely geared toward catalog production.
The Rhode Island Economic Development Corp. recently received four awards in the 1999 American Economic Development Council Promotional Materials Awards Competition for tourism and business expansion advertisements created by Duffy & Shanley, of Providence, RIEDC’s agency of record. The awards included one of five “Best of Show” prizes for a black-and-white print campaign touting Rhode Island as the “Brighter Place for the Big Idea,” an ad that also garnered a “Best of Class” prize. A companion collateral campaign featuring a color brochure and envelope also won a “Best of Class” award. A “Get Unstressed” ad highlighting Rhode Island as a relaxing vacation destination won an “Excellent” award.
