Aflac Duck Meets Santa in Distress

NEW YORK Just in time for the holidays, the Aflac duck returns with a dose of his irreverent wit.

In a spot breaking on Monday from the Kaplan Thaler Group in New York, Santa climbs down a chimney in a quiet neighborhood on a snowy Christmas Eve and promptly gets stuck. Inside the house, a girl sleeping by the Christmas tree hears the clatter.

“And I don’t even have that insurance,” groans Santa from inside the chimney.

“What insurance Santa?” responds the little girl.

Outside, the Aflac duck approaches the chimney, squawking “Aflac” before sliding down the roof and landing on a neighbor’s snowman.

“Can you just send down the toys?” the girl asks Santa, sweetly.

The tagline on the spot, directed by Joe Public of Headquarters, remains, “Aflac, ask about it at work.”

Production credits go to agency creative directors Tom Amico and Eric David as well as Linda Kaplan Thaler, CEO and chief creative officer.

Aflac spent about $40 million in measured media in 2002, according to TNS Media Intelligence/CMR.
