AeroMexico Touches Down at CP+B

LOS ANGELES Crispin Porter + Bogusky has won AeroMexico’s North American account, the agency confirmed.

The shop’s Venice, Calif., office won the business following a review that also included Reynolds & Associates in Manhattan Beach, Calif., and The Martin Agency in Richmond, Va., sources said. The incumbent, WPP Group’s Young & Rubicam in Miami, was not invited to defend the account.

Billings could not immediately be determined. AeroMexico spent roughly $6 million on ads through November 2002, according to CMR.

“This is a terrific opportunity to bring some new ideas to a very crowded category,” said Mark Simmons, managing director of CP+B in Venice. “We plan on using highly targeted nontraditional tactics to educate consumers about how AeroMexico is different.”

Initial work from CP+B, breaking in early spring, will target business travelers heading to and from Mexico.

AeroMexico serves 43 cities in Mexico, 80 destinations in the U.S. and Canada, and six countries in Europe and South America. Its U.S. headquarters is in Houston.
