Aer Lingus Set to Rate Agencies

NEW YORK Aer Lingus, Ireland’s official airline, is poised to begin a review for its estimated $5 million advertising account within the month, according to the client.

Its contract with the incumbent, The Tucker Partnership in New York, is set to expire at the end of this year, and Aer Lingus would like a new contract in place by December, said Rosemarie Curran, client manager of advertising.

The airline, whose U.S. office is located in Melville, N.Y., is looking for “a full-service agency with a minimal retainer,” said Curran. To date, the airline’s advertising has consisted mostly of newspaper ads, she said.

Both The Tucker Partnership and the newly formed New York office of Kramer-Crasselt, helmed by former Tucker creative chiefs Larry Hampel and Dean Stefanides, will be invited to participate along with undetermined agencies, Curran said. It could not be determined whether either agency would participate.

No consultant will be used, Curran said.
