Active Bidders Advance to Lottery Finals

LOS ANGELES All three agencies that had active proposals on the table for the Washington Lottery’s marketing account have advanced to the finals, confirmed lottery legal counsel Ceil Buddeke.

The finalists are the incumbent, Publicis Groupe’s Publicis; WPP’s Cole & Weber/Red Cell; and independent WongDoody, all in Seattle, Buddeke said.

Five agencies had responded to the lottery’s request for proposal but Interpublic Group’s Sedgwick Rd. and Omnicom’s DDB, both in Seattle, dropped out of the review earlier in the process [Adweek Online, Feb. 13].

The three-year contract, which carries the option to extend for up to three additional years, includes creative, media buying and public relations. The budget is developed annually, but is estimated at $6 million per year.

The lottery is expected to hear presentations March 10-17 and name an agency by April 2.
