NEW YORK — ABC’s nightly newscast broke NBC’s 53-week winning streak during the week ending May 11, according to Nielsen Media Research. ABC’s “World News Tonight” ranked first in total viewers for the week with 8.3 million total viewers, while “NBC Nightly News” finished with 8.2 million viewers.

CBS’ “Evening News” had 7.5 million viewers. “World News Tonight” was the only newscast to display week-to-week growth among total viewers, up 3%, while NBC was down 8%.
