AAR Adds Media Weight

Recently merged search consultancy AAR/Bob Wolf Partners has hired a media veteran to help increase revenues from the continued stream of unbundled media reviews.
Jane Twyon has joined the group as a partner responsible for building the registry’s media expertise. Twyon will work closely with managing partners Bob Wolf, an ex-Chiat/Day executive, and Dan Pearlman. She will also work with managing partners Leslie Winthrop and Hasan Ramusevic.
“Jane has a keen understanding of the media area which, interestingly, has the most expenditures but less evaluation by advertisers,” said Wolf.
Twyon boasts 20 years of media experience, with stints as an executive media director at N.W. Ayer & Partners and an exective vice president at Lowe & Partners/SMS.
Since 1993, she has run her own media consultancy, known as Worldwide Media Directors. Twyon advised such clients as Estƒe Lauder on strategy, optimizers and other media planning and buying tools.
“My favorite thing about AAR is they’re agency friendly,” said Twyon, who will be based in New York. “A consultant’s job is to even the playing field, and I like AAR’s philosophy.”
The hire follows the December merger of New York-based AAR North America and Bob Wolf Partners & Co. in Los Angeles [Adweek, Dec. 14, 1998].
The operation has offices in London, Paris and Sydney, Australia and will add locations in Chicago, Mexico City and Toronto.
The top 20 media reviews totalled $2.7 billion in billings last year.
