Steve Farella is the new senior vice president, regional director of North America Media Operations at D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, a unit of The MacManus Group. Farella, 41, succeeds Rich Hamilton, who unexpectedly resigned last month to pursue other interests. Farella now has responsibilities over seven media directors and various staff in five offices, including New York, St. Louis, and Toronto.
CAREER: Farella is back in the D’Arcy fold, 20 years after joining the Benton & Bowles media powerhouse as an assistant media planner. He moved through the ranks and was promoted to vice president and associate media director in 1982. He then left the agency in 1985 and started his journey as a media director at several shops, including Ammirati & Puris and, most recently, Jordan, McGrath, Case & Taylor, where he also served as director of business development.
on the future : ‘We’ve seen dramatic changes and consolidations in media buying. We should soon see consolidations of planning-only assignments.’
