NEW YORK Seven New York shops have advanced in Eight O’Clock Coffee’s search for a lead agency to handle its estimated $7 million ad account, sources said on Friday.

Sources identified the contenders as independent Bouchez Kent + Co., Interpublic Group’s Gotham and Avrett Free & Ginsberg, Omnicom Group’s DDB, Havas’ Euro RSCG MVBMS Partners, Publicis Groupe’s The Kaplan Thaler Group and MDC’s Margeotes|Fertitta + Partners. The agencies either declined comment or could not be reached.
