4 Finalists Emerge in Dish Network Review

NEW YORK Four shops are awaiting a decision from EchoStar Communications on its Dish Network account, following the conclusion of final presentations last week, sources said. They are: Publicis Groupe’s Publicis in Seattle, Omnicom Group’s TBWA\Chiat\Day in New York, Interpublic Group’s Campbell Mithun in Minneapolis and independent DiNoto in New York, said sources.

The agencies are vying for creative duties on the brand, which competes with DirecTV. The Engelwood, Colo., client has used shops on a project basis in the past, including New York independent The Romann Group.

Although client executives have not been explicit about the scope of the business, contenders are seeking to become lead agency on Dish, offering more than just traditional ads, said sources. Last year, EchoStar spent about $120 million in measured media on Dish, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

Some contenders also have made a case for handling media duties, now at Cash Plus Media Services, a subsidiary of Campbell Mithun. The search, however, remains focused on creative duties, according to sources.

The shops either declined comment or did not return calls. The client, which previously acknowledged that it talks to agencies “all the time” [Adweek, Dec. 6], also declined comment. A decision is expected within the next week.
