Today is Oct. 21, 2015, otherwise known as Back to the Future Day, the day Marty McFly and Doc Brown arrive in the present straight from the 1980s.

It's also the culmination of a month of brands taking advantage of the hype surrounding the occasion. Pepsi invented a real-life, limited-edition Pepsi Perfect. Toyota reunited Christopher Lloyd (Doc) and Michael J. Fox (Marty McFly) in a five-minute spot for its "Fueled by Everything" campaign.

Brands have been quick to hop on the social hoverboard, using a variety of hyped-up hashtags like #BackToTheFuture and #BackToTheFutureDay.
