2 Shops Reach Finals for XM Satellite Media

LOS ANGELES Aegis Group’s Carat and Publicis Groupe’s MediaVest have advanced in the review for the media portion of XM Satellite Radio’s ad account, sources said.

Not advancing, according to sources: Havas’ Media Planning Group and independent Horizon Media. All contenders are New York-based.

The client did not return calls. Agencies either declined to comment or could not be reached.

Creative is also in review and several undisclosed shops are contending for that part of the business, sources said.

Washington, D.C.-based XM spent $60 million on ads last year, per TNS Media Intelligence/CMR. Omnicom-owned incumbent TWBA\Chiat\Day, Playa del Rey, Calif., is not defending.
