LOS ANGELES Omnicom Group’s 180LA has hired Joel Rodriguez as a creative director to work with ecd William Gelner at its Santa Monica, Calif., office, agency president Mike Allen confirmed.

Allen said that Rodriguez was “a talented designer and conceptual thinker. And he’s worked on great brands.”

Rodriguez comes most recently from a stint at Omnicom’s Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco, where he worked on Sprint, Hewlett-Packard, Hyundai, and Comcast. Before that, he was a group cd at Publicis Groupe’s Fallon, Minneapolis, and Omnicom shops TBWA\Chiat\Day and BBDO in New York, where he worked on Nextel, Sprint and Embassy Suites and FedEx and Guinness, respectively.

Allen said Rodriguez would work primarily on Adidas and assist on Sony Consumer Electronics at the agency.
