LOS ANGELES The Weinstein Co. has assigned media buying and planning duties to Palisades Media Group, the independent agency said today.

Sources estimated billings at $125-150 million.

“It is my understanding that there were other [media] agencies who pitched them very hard,” said Roger Schaffner, chairman and CEO of the Santa Monica, Calif.-based agency. “But what prevailed was the quality of the work we did for them when they were Miramax.”

Bob and Harvey Weinstein, the co-founders of Miramax, first worked with Palisades executives (including Schaffner) as far back as 1994, when the latter worked at a shop known as ICG.
