Las Vegas Tourism "ChinChilli Day"Agency: R&R Partners Review Date: June 05, 2009 Gun-wielding chinchillas rise up against their owners in a bloody three-day battle that is forever commemorated with "ChinChilli Day." Haven't heard of the holiday? Neither has the boss in this funny spot for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority that has an employee serving up a tall tale of a rodent revolution in order to get a day off for a long weekend in Vegas. His "people" managed to quell the violence, but not before we see the pets lunge for a woman's throat, set off explosions and massacre the townsfolk with their tiny guns. "Every year my people celebrate the victory over the revolt," he tells his boss. And "how do you celebrate?" he asks. "Three days in Vegas. It's a cultural obligation." The boss miraculously buys it, or else can't be bothered to question the outrageous story. The entertaining ad ends with on-screen copy asking, "What's your excuse?" before driving viewers to VisitLasVegas.com. --Eleftheria Parpis Follow Adweek creative editor Eleftheria Parpis on Twitter View Credits
