Aflac "Whodunit"Agency: The Kaplan Thaler Group Review Date: March 06, 2009 The Aflac duck expands its acting chops (feathers?) in this cute commercial that spoofs drawing-room mystery denouements. Naturally, "Whodunit?" is the question at hand. Some insurance company covers expenses its competitors won't touch. Which one could it be? The iconic mascot provides clues in the form of webbed footprints and -- as always -- quacks out the brand's name on cue. In one inspired bit, the duck rides a rolling ladder past some bookshelves, its wings flapping madly. The spot makes the most of a pretty thin premise with quick pacing, great (human) casting and lots of thunderclaps (as in all good mysteries, this vignette takes place on a "dark and stormy night"). Thankfully, it wasn't a case of murder most fowl, or birdbrained writers stooping to cheap wordplay. --David Gianatasio View Credits
