Gold's Gym "Stairs"

Brand: Gold's Gyms
Agency: McKinney
Review Date: November 20, 2008

Getting to the gym isn't the easiest thing to do and gyms have tried all sorts of tactics to entice people through the door and keep them coming back. This campaign for Gold's Gym, the first for the chain from McKinney,
may provide the right motivation for some, particularly those who view Gold's as a training camp for the muscle-bound. We see average men and women exercising and on-screen graphics explain their motivations. In one spot showing a close-up of a woman's legs as she tackles the stair machine, words like "Kilimanjaro," "Everest," "Olympus" and finally "The corporate ladder" roll under her feet. The spot, which tells viewers exercise can build all sorts of strength, not just the physical kind, ends with the tagline "Know your own strength." The point, exercise can build all sorts of strength, not just the physical kind. --Eleftheria Parpis

Overall, I like the ad, it's cute. I belong to Golds Gym and I don't see what y'all talking about. You go there to work out and get healthy...Be grateful that someone is looking at you cuz someday your beauty will be gone and no one will be looking and then you'll remember when they did. About the cancellations, I find that any time you give someone access to getting their money directly paid, you experience headaches. Cancel your card and get a new one and that will take care of it. As a gym they provide the newest equipment and an environment that allows you to work out. Don't dis the gym when you are upset about the process.

I don't recommend signing up with Gold's Gym to anyone. They will give you guys give a hard time with canceling payments. All they ever want is my money even when I cancelled over 6 months ago. I am still going through this hassle with cancelling the contract with Gold's Gym company. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM.

Hey BS - There is a reason you are defending lame spots for Gold's, could it be you worked on it? You don't have to be a genius to see these ads suck.

There is a reason y'all are golds gym employees!! And not in advertising! It is not a bad concept at all. As stated above the product placement is good! It keeps me interested but not enough to make go and get a GOLDS membership!

Gold's has given her the strength to climb the corporate ladder, how cliche. I wonder how she has the strength to ward off all the unwanted glaring from the meat heads at Gold's not to mention dealing with the grunters and mirror flexers.

Not a great ad, but perfect from the view of inside the gym. As a Gold's Gym employee, this stair machine is one of the most popular pieces of equipment there.
